Recipes
There is so much information out there about what constitutes a healthy diet, much of it misleading or outright dangerous. We recommend that you follow basic common sense and avoid eating too much of any one thing. If you include a wide variety of healthful foods in your diet, you will likely be getting adequate amounts of the required vitamins, minerals and amino acids to maintain your health.
Increase your intake of fruits and vegetables. Limit the amount of animal protein in your diet - there are many sources of good protein in vegetables, beans and legumes. Limit simple carbs (white breads, pasta, candy, sugar) and increase your intake of complex carbs (whole grain foods such as quinoa, brown rice, whole grain breads and pastas, fresh, raw and gently cooked vegetables). Because it is what we grew up with, we often prefer the white and processed foods. But, as you eat the healthier fare, you will find that your tastes adjust and it won't be long until you prefer them.
The recipes listed here have all been home tested. Feel free to adjust them to your own personal taste by substituting specific vegetables and seasonings with what you like and have on hand. The recipes on our web site are brought to you by Melanie, our office manager and Dr. Thompson's beloved wife. She is an amazing cook as you will see.
Enjoy!
